Few months to the general election in the country, Delta state governor Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa has urged Deltans to stand and defend their votes at the forthcoming elections in the state.
The governor gave this charge at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area while on reelection campaign just as he apologized to the people over the delay of Oha road in area.
According to him, “Okpe has gain more from his administration, the Speaker of the Delta state House of Assembly, Commissioner for works, House of Representatives candidate and the father of government are all from Okpe and to who much is given, much is expected.
While apologizing to Okpe people over the delay of the Oha road, Okowa said, “I am making a public apology here on the Oha road and to let you know why it has not been completed before now. The Engineers gave a wrong BoQ on it which has been corrected since December, 2018.
“And as at today the contractor have returned back to site and by the special grace of God, before March election much work must have been done and I will come for the road inspection before February 2019 election because this administration would not want to carry over any project to our second tenure.
“In 2015 when our campaign got to the Orodje palace, they demanded for two things, the market and Oha road, and the market has been completed. But when we awarded the contract of the Oha road, we made a mistake but that has been corrected and I have vowed to complete it at this my first tenure. Because in my second tenure we have many things to do and I don’t want any carry over.
“We know what they are planning but because we have God Almighty they will surely fail and I want to enjoin all Deltans that at the coming elections, they should stand firm to defend their votes from their Units, Wards, to collation centers and follow up to the INEC office for declaration.
“Okpe is a very peaceful local government and in our second tenure, we are going to do more but you must have your PVCs to enable us win our elections because this time we want to defend our votes”. He stated.
